The Land Speeder Vengeance answered an old need within the Ravenwing, whose swift companies had long yearned for heavier guns to match their speed. In the thirty-sixth millennium the Dark Angels recovered a Standard Template Construct record for a larger and sturdier Land Speeder, its powerful lift-engines able to bear a weapon far too heavy for the nimble skimmers the Second Company had fielded before. Upon this new hull the Chapter mounted one of its most prized relics.
That relic is the plasma storm battery, an archaic weapon held for long ages in the armouries of the Rock. In essence a pair of great plasma cannons yoked together to fire as one, it can loose its energies in two fashions: a rapid succession of searing blasts, or a single supercharged discharge that flings out a rolling toroid of plasma to burst above the enemy and immolate all beneath it. Few weapons carried by a craft of its size can match the sheer destructive weight the battery brings to bear.
Swift enough to keep pace with the Ravenwing's headlong advance yet armed to shatter armour and burn away massed infantry, the Land Speeder Vengeance ranges the battlefield's edge, pouring plasma into the foe from unexpected angles. It is at once a hunter and an executioner, lending the mobile companies the crushing firepower they need to run their quarry to ground and end the pursuit in fire.
