Angels Vermillion

Secretive to the edge of paranoia, the Angels Vermillion are a Blood Angels successor who bear their bloodline's curse in bleak isolation, shunning their brother Chapters and guarding their darkest secrets with quiet menace.

Contents

The Angels Vermillion were raised in the Second Founding, the great division that shattered the old Space Marine Legions into smaller Chapters, and they trace their gene-seed directly to the Blood Angels and the angelic primarch Sanguinius. Their fortress-world of Corinal lies far out along the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy, a distant and lonely holding that mirrors the Chapter's own temperament, for the Angels Vermillion have made isolation into an article of faith.

Where nearly every other scion of Sanguinius clings to the fellowship of its kindred Chapters, gathering when able to share counsel and mourn their common affliction, the Angels Vermillion have chosen to endure alone. They wear deep, blood-dark red edged with pale gold, and they suffer the twin curses of their lineage, the maddening Red Thirst and the doom-laden Black Rage, without the comfort or oversight of their brothers. Such wilful separation breeds suspicion, and the Chapter is regarded warily even by those who share its blood.

Little is set down in Imperial records of their campaigns, for the Angels Vermillion volunteer nothing and answer to no one they can avoid, yet what fragments survive speak of a battle record that is nothing short of exemplary. Whispers persist that the Chapter's silence is a weapon in itself, and that its masters hold the knowledge of their shared curse as grim leverage against any who might move to condemn them, a threat left unspoken but keenly understood.
