Brother Corbulo stands at the head of the Sanguinary Priesthood, the most senior of those grave physician-priests who tend the flesh and the soul of the Blood Angels. His is a station of profound honour, for into his keeping is given the Red Grail, the sacred chalice that holds a portion of the preserved blood of the primarch Sanguinius, the most treasured relic of the entire Chapter and the focus of its holiest rites.
By a rare and potent expression of his gene-seed, Corbulo bears an uncanny resemblance to the lost angel himself, his features echoing those of Sanguinius so closely that to look upon him is to glimpse the primarch reborn. The Chapter regards this as a sign of destiny, and Corbulo carries the weight of that symbolism with quiet gravity, aware that his brothers see in his face a promise of the angel's enduring presence among them.
In war he fights with the relic chainsword known as Heaven's Teeth and labours as the greatest of his order, recovering the gene-seed of the fallen and lending those around him a measure of the primarch's transcendent vigour. Yet his true crusade is not fought with blade alone, for Corbulo has bent the vast learning of a Sanguinary High Priest toward a single desperate goal, the discovery of a cure for the Red Thirst that gnaws at every son of Sanguinius.
That quest has carried him the length and breadth of the galaxy in search of any lore, relic or secret that might lift the curse from his people. It is a hope that many think vain, for the Flaw is woven into the very blood the Blood Angels revere, yet Corbulo does not relent, for he above all others understands that the same sacred inheritance which makes his Chapter glorious is the slow poison that will one day destroy it. Until that cure is found, he tends his brothers and guards the Grail, the living embodiment of both the Chapter's hope and its curse.
