Founded in the 33rd Millennium from the gene-seed of the Ultramarines, the Howling Griffons uphold the disciplined traditions of Guilliman's sons while cultivating a fierce culture all their own. Above all else the Chapter reveres the sworn oath. Every promise a Griffon makes is a bond to be honoured until it is fulfilled or death takes him in the attempt, and before battle a warrior may add fresh vows to the long list he already carries.
That devotion has forged them into implacable pursuers. When wrong is done to the Chapter, the Howling Griffons will hunt the guilty across star systems and solar decades until the debt is paid in blood. Their long war against the renegade Periclitor's warband of Word Bearers and Night Lords, begun after that traitor slew Chapter Master Orlando Furioso and the entire 1st Company, exemplifies their refusal to let any injury go unanswered.
The Chapter fought with distinction in the Badab War and in the defence of Imperial worlds against the tides of Chaos during the 13th Black Crusade. Their striking quartered livery of yellow and crimson, among the most intricate heraldry in the Adeptus Astartes, marks them as warriors of unbending resolve and unforgotten promises.

Angels of VengeanceThe Angels of Vengeance are among the grimmest of the Unforgiven, a Second Founding successor of the Dark Angels who wage the secret hunt for the Fallen with a cold, unrelenting fury. Clad in armour of funereal black, they are austere even by the standards of their tormented lineage, speaking little and forgiving nothing.
