Deathwing Knights are drawn from the innermost ranks of the Dark Angels' First Company, veterans so trusted that they are counted among the Inner Circle and shown the full weight of the Chapter's ten-thousand-year secret. Encased in hallowed Terminator plate, they are the heirs of the knightly orders that once warded ancient Caliban against the warp-born beasts of its forests, and they carry that grim tradition into the darkest hours of the forty-first millennium.
Into battle each Knight bears a mace of absolution, a ceremonial weapon of terrible power, and a storm shield, both of them relics forged in the twilight of the Great Crusade and entrusted only to warriors deemed worthy. These heirlooms are presented by the Watchers in the Dark, the silent hooded figures native to Caliban whose true nature remains one of the Chapter's abiding mysteries. Where the Watchers walk beside the Knights, ancient icons and reliquaries are borne with them, though for what purpose the diminutive beings attend these towering warriors, only the Knights themselves may know.
Each squad is led by a Knight Master who wields the Flail of the Unforgiven, and together the brethren can lock their shields into an impenetrable defensive wall, weathering the fiercest onslaught before answering with a single, devastating stroke. When the enemy must be broken at close quarters, or when a secret too dangerous to survive must be buried with its keeper, it is the Deathwing Knights who are unleashed.
