Furioso Dreadnought

A close-assault war-engine near-unique to the sons of Sanguinius, the Furioso trades ranged firepower for a pair of monstrous rending weapons and hurls its interred hero straight into the enemy's heart.

The Furioso is a pattern of Dreadnought favoured almost exclusively by the Blood Angels and the Chapters descended from them, built not to hold a firing line but to tear an enemy apart at arm's length. Where other Chapters arm their ancients with long-ranged cannon, the Blood Angels forge the Furioso for the brutal intimacy of the charge, mounting upon its arms a pair of dreadnought-scale close-combat weapons and forgoing heavy guns almost entirely.

Chief among its armaments are the blood talons, a rare and dreaded variant of the dreadnought lightning claw whose energised blades slice through armour plate and infantry alike, and the crushing blood fists that can rip open a battle tank. So equipped, the Furioso wades into the thick of the fighting and reaps a red harvest, protected within its adamantium shell by a venerated battle-brother who has already given his mortal life once in the Emperor's service. Some are entrusted to the Chapter's Librarians, who wed psychic might to the machine's raw strength.

To inter a hero within a Furioso is to grant him a fury made manifest, a second life spent forever at the forefront of the assault. The pattern embodies the Blood Angels' way of war, swift, headlong and unrelenting at close quarters, and its appearance on the battlefield tells the enemy that the sons of Sanguinius have chosen to settle the matter blade to blade.
