Azrael

Azrael stands at the pinnacle of the Dark Angels, Supreme Grand Master of the Chapter and Keeper of the Truth, the sole warrior who holds every thread of the Unforgiven's ten-thousand-year secret in his hands. He rose to the office after the death of his predecessor, Naberius, elevated with unusual haste and entrusted at once with the full and terrible knowledge of Caliban's fall, the treachery of Luther, and the endless hunt for the Fallen. From that day he has borne the weight of the Chapter's shame more completely than any other living soul.

With the mantle of Keeper of the Truth came the traditional panoply of his forebears. Azrael wields the master-crafted Sword of Secrets, an ancient blade warded against nearly any foe and named for the burden of hidden knowledge every Supreme Grand Master must carry. He wears the artificer plate known as the Protector and carries the combi-plasma gun called the Lion's Wrath, and above his brow floats the ornate Lion Helm, held aloft in battle by a Watcher in the Dark, one of the strange hooded beings that guard the deepest vaults beneath the Rock.

Even among the Dark Angels, a Chapter defined by its silence, Azrael is renowned as a keeper of confidences, revealing nothing of the truths he protects even to trusted commanders of the wider Imperium. He walks a razor's edge, waging open war against the enemies of Mankind while orchestrating a hidden war that must never come to light, for should the Imperium ever learn of the Fallen, the Dark Angels would be branded traitors and destroyed.

Yet Azrael is no mere spymaster hunched over secrets. He is a peerless warrior and an inspiring commander, a figure whose resolve does not waver even when the odds are at their bleakest.
