Varro Tigurius stands as the Chief Librarian of the Ultramarines and the mightiest psyker the Chapter has produced in living memory. Command of the Librarius makes him keeper of the Ultramarines' psychic and esoteric lore, but it is the raw strength and subtlety of his own gift that sets him apart, for few among all the Adeptus Astartes can match his mastery of the warp.
Most remarkable of his talents is his gift of foresight. Visions of things yet to come reach Tigurius in waking dreams and sudden premonitions, glimpses of the future precise enough to guide him upon the field of battle itself. Time and again his warnings have allowed the defenders of Ultramar to meet invasions before they could gather force, blunting incursions that might otherwise have laid the realm low. To focus these fearsome energies he wears the Hood of Hellfire, an ancient relic that sharpens his psychic sight and lends terrible power to his wrath.
His deeds in war are legion. On the world of Boros he sent searing psychic fire coursing through an Ork horde and led a weary company to victory against impossible odds; against the Tyranids he has braved the mind-numbing Shadow in the Warp cast by their hive fleets, wrenching knowledge from that suffocating darkness to warn the Imperium of where the Great Devourer would next strike.
Yet his gift is also his burden. The same sensitivity that lets Tigurius perceive the future exposes him ceaselessly to the predatory horrors of the immaterium, and he walks a razor's edge that has destroyed lesser minds. Watchful, solitary and grave, he guards his brothers against enemies they cannot see, an indispensable sentinel standing between the Ultramarines and the abyss. Since the primarch's resurrection, Tigurius has numbered among the counsellors closest to Roboute Guilliman himself, his premonitions helping to steer the Indomitus Crusade through the madness of a broken age.
