Spiritseer

Spiritseers are the shepherds of the dead, seers who walk a Path that lets them commune with the souls bound within a craftworld's infinity circuit. In war they guide the wraith constructs, the ghost warriors animated by the spirits of fallen heroes, steadying their unquiet minds and directing their strength against the living. They are the bridge between the Aeldari who were and the Aeldari who remain.

Every craftworld carries its dead within it, their souls gathered into the wraithbone infinity circuit that threads through the vessel like a nervous system. The Spiritseers are those seers gifted and burdened with the ability to speak to these spirits, walking a specialised branch of the Path of the Seer that turns their sight inward to the realm of the departed. In peace they serve as intermediaries between the living and the dead, drawing counsel and remembrance from those who have passed.

In war their purpose grows grimmer. When the craftworld's need is dire, the Spiritseers rouse the honoured dead from their rest and entreat them to take up wraithbone bodies, animating the wraithguard and wraithlords that march to the Aeldari's defence. These ghost warriors are afflicted by wraithsight, perceiving the living world as a bewildering swirl of shifting colour and shadow, and so a Spiritseer must remain close at hand to anchor them, lending clarity and purpose to spirits that would otherwise falter.

The Spiritseer bears a rune-crowned stave through which to focus their power, and their disciplines lie in the runes of battle and the compulsion of the wraith-kin. The tradition is strongest upon Iyanden, a craftworld so grievously depleted that it leans upon its dead to fill the ranks of the living, and there the Spiritseers are figures of the highest honour, guardians of a host that is as much memory as flesh.
