The Howling Banshees take their name from the shriek that heralds their assault, a psychically amplified scream channelled through the war-masks of their helms that strikes at an enemy's nervous system directly, freezing warriors in a moment of primal terror. In that instant of paralysis the Banshees are upon them, and the hesitation of a single heartbeat is enough to prove fatal.
This shrine embodies the aspect of Khaine as the reaper who comes for all, and its warriors, drawn almost entirely from among the female Aeldari, are specialists in the swift and lethal charge. They move with a grace that borders on the supernatural, crossing open ground faster than the eye can track before their power swords carve through armour as though it were cloth. Each squad is led by an Exarch whose mastery of the Banshee arts makes her a whirlwind of death in her own right. Lightly armoured and reliant on speed and shock, the Howling Banshees are not built to endure a protracted fight; they are built to end one before it begins, striking with a killing fury and leaving stillness in their wake.
