Where other Aspects dance and strike with blade or blur, the Dark Reapers stand grim and unmoving, dealing death at a distance. They give form to the coldest facet of the war god Khaine, his aspect as the Destroyer who reaps souls without passion or pity. Their armour is the colour of a starless night and their masks are wrought into leering skulls, a deliberate omen of the doom they carry.
Their sacred weapon is the reaper launcher, a long-barrelled instrument that looses a blistering salvo of small, armour-piercing missiles capable of tearing apart all but the most heavily protected of foes. What makes the Dark Reaper so lethal is the union of weapon and warrior: the rangefinder in the helm forges a mind-link with the launcher, so that the Reaper seems to sight along the very path of each missile as it flies. It is said that a Dark Reaper simply does not miss.
Because they are slow to move and loath to leave a chosen vantage, the Dark Reapers are deployed as the anchor of an Aeldari battle line, a fixed point of annihilation around which the swifter Aspects wheel. Their tradition springs from the lost craftworld of Altansar and its greatest Exarch, Maugan Ra, the Harvester of Souls, who alone escaped his world's fall into the Eye of Terror and carried the discipline of the Reapers out into the wider galaxy.
