Deathskulls

The Ork clan of incorrigible looters and scroungers, who daub themselves in lucky blue and pilfer anything not bolted down, friend or foe alike.

The Deathskulls carry a reputation that trails them across the galaxy: they are the most incorrigible looters, scavengers, and light-fingered scroungers among all the greenskins. Where other clans keep score by kills, the Deathskulls keep score by loot, stripping the fallen of weapons, armour, teef, and trinkets before the bodies have finished cooling. They are not remotely fussy about whose belongings they claim, either, and an unguarded pile of gear belonging to a fellow Ork is considered every bit as fair a prize as anything taken off the enemy.

What truly marks the Deathskulls out is their superstition, which runs deep even by greenskin standards. They are utterly convinced that the colour blue is lucky, that it draws the favour of the Ork gods Gork and Mork, and so they slather themselves and their wargear in every shade of it they can lay hands on. A Deathskull heading to war is a walking collection of charms, painted glyphs, and salvaged good-luck junk, every piece carried in the unshakeable belief that it will turn aside the next bullet. Unnervingly often, it seems to do exactly that.

Because looting and building go hand in hand, the Deathskulls keep unusually close ties to their Meks and Lootas. The grubby-fisted scavengers haul home the raw salvage, the Meks turn it into fresh guns, tanks, and war-junk, and so a Deathskull warband tends to grow richer and better armed with every battlefield it strips bare.
