Ork Lootas

Thieving Orks who bolt looted weaponry into roaring deffguns, delivering a warband's heavy firepower while pilfering anything not nailed down.

Lootas are the light-fingered opportunists of the Ork race, scavengers and thieves who will make off with anything not firmly bolted down and a good deal that is. Nobody is truly safe around a mob of Lootas; a brief squabble over some pilfered trinket tends to end with the original owner discovering that his lunch, his slugga, and his gold teef have all mysteriously wandered off. The habit makes Lootas surprisingly wealthy by greenskin standards, and they pour that fortune straight into acquiring ever bigger and louder guns.

A Loota's pride and joy is his deffgun, a heavy, shoulder-braced weapon cobbled together from whatever armaments he has managed to steal or scavenge off the battlefield. There is no standard pattern; a deffgun is simply a frame with as many recovered guns welded, bolted, or lashed onto it as will fit, their triggers slaved together so the whole ramshackle assembly roars downrange in one deafening barrage. What it lacks in accuracy it more than makes up for in noise and sheer volume of fire.

In battle Lootas serve as a warband's heavy fire support, gathering in mobs to hose the enemy with a storm of loosely aimed shots, often with an interested Mek looking on to see how his handiwork performs under fire. Once the fighting ends, their real work begins, as they pick over the corpse-strewn field, stripping weapons and armour from the dead to sell on to the Mekboyz or feed into next battle's even bigger deffgun.
