Deffkoptas

Rickety rotor-driven scout vehicles that scream across the battlefield, held aloft by little more than speed and stubbornness.

Deffkoptas are proof that Ork engineering philosophy cares far more about whether a machine feels like it should fly than whether it actually ought to be capable of it. Built around a single spinning rotor bolted to a frame barely large enough to hold its Ork pilot, these contraptions dart ahead of the main Waaagh! at speeds that seem to defy the flimsiness of their construction, scouting out targets and softening them up before the main horde arrives.

Piloting a Deffkopta requires a very particular kind of Ork: reckless even by greenskin standards, and utterly convinced that the vehicle's questionable stability is somebody else's problem. Deffkopta pilots favor low, screaming passes over enemy lines, strafing with whatever weapon has been mounted to the frame before peeling away to avoid the return fire that inevitably follows.

Kept Aloft by Belief

Mekboyz who build Deffkoptas will tell anyone who asks that the machines fly because the rotor spins fast enough, but Ork technology rarely follows such simple rules. More than one tech-adept has noted that Deffkoptas piloted by Orks who have lost faith in their own machine tend to fall out of the sky for no mechanical reason at all, a fact that Ork pilots universally choose to ignore rather than dwell on before their next patrol.
