The Toxicrene is a nightmare of the swarm's bio-alchemy, a lumbering organism perpetually shrouded in a roiling cloud of toxic spores that corrode lungs and dissolve flesh. Anything drawing near chokes in the poisonous haze long before the creature's true weapons come into play: a mass of writhing tentacles tipped with envenomed barbs that seize, paralyse, and slowly digest their prey.
Grown by the Hive Mind as a walking area-denial weapon, the Toxicrene is deployed to clear entrenched infantry from cover and choke-points that faster organisms cannot easily assault. Its venoms are refined to overwhelm even resilient foes, and the spores it exhales linger over ground it has crossed, leaving a lethal residue in its wake. For the Tyranids, the Toxicrene is patience made monstrous, a slow tide of poison that renders whole battlefields uninhabitable and strips the living from any position they thought secure.
