Hive Fleet Kraken

A fractured, unpredictable tide that scattered across a thousand worlds at once, proving no single line of defense could contain it.

Contents

Where Behemoth struck like a single hammer blow, Kraken arrived as something closer to a flood finding every crack in a wall simultaneously. Rather than advancing along one predictable corridor, it split into hundreds of splinter fleets that struck isolated colonies, mining outposts, and frontier worlds across a staggering breadth of the galaxy, denying the Imperium any single front on which to concentrate its response.

Kraken's bio-forms showed a marked bias toward speed and adaptability over Behemoth's brute density, favoring broods that could fall from orbit, overrun a world's defenses in hours, and depart before a counterattack could be organized. Entire systems learned of their neighbors' destruction only after the swarm had already moved on, leaving behind husks of worlds and survivors driven half-mad by what they had witnessed.

Decades after its first emergence, splinters of Kraken are still being discovered in forgotten corners of space, having lain dormant on hollowed-out moons or drifted through the void in a state of biological stasis. Its dispersed nature means it may never be fully destroyed, only endlessly, wearily contained.
