The Canoptek Doomstalker is a sentinel-engine of the tomb worlds, a tall, three-legged construct that patrols the approaches to a dynasty's buried domain. Where the smaller canoptek machines swarm and repair, the Doomstalker exists to bombard, its central body dominated by a doomsday blaster that hurls searing energy across vast distances. It moves with a deliberate, spider-like gait, folding and unfolding its limbs over rubble and corpse alike, its single baleful eye tracking targets no living gunner could even perceive. Roused from the deep vaults when the tomb's outer wards are breached, it needs no living commander; ancient protocols guide its aim, and its patience is measured in millennia. Massed formations of these stalkers can level a besieging army before the foe ever reaches the tomb gates. To the Necrons the Doomstalker is little more than automated defence, but to those who trigger its awakening it is a striding tower of judgement from which there is no cover and no reprieve.
