The Diviner

Orikan the Diviner

The greatest of necron astromancers, a chronomancer who walks backward through time to steer fate toward the moment of his ascension into a being of terrible light.

Orikan the Diviner is among the most formidable of all the crypteks, an astromancer and chronomancer whose command of time and prophecy sets him apart even from his brilliant peers. Millions of years ago he read the movements of the stars for the ruling Triarch of the necrontyr, and he numbered among the most trusted counsellors of the Silent King himself, his auguries shaping the decisions of an empire.

Alone among that court, Orikan foresaw the catastrophe that biotransference would bring. When the Deceiver came before the Triarch to offer immortality in exchange for the necrontyr's souls, it was Orikan who raised his voice against the bargain, warning that it would end in ruin. His prophecy went unheeded, and he watched, helpless, as his people damned themselves to the very fate he had foretold. That vindication, bitter and hollow, seems only to have deepened his conviction that his sight is truer than any other's.

As a chronomancer, Orikan does not merely predict the future; he labours to enforce it. When events threaten to stray from the destiny he has divined, he employs his most closely guarded arts to travel backward through time itself, nudging the past so that the future he desires is set right once more. His schemes span millennia, and to those who cannot perceive the vast design behind his actions, the Diviner appears aloof, arrogant and maddeningly inscrutable.

All of his plotting bends toward a single prophesied moment. Orikan has foreseen a rare alignment of the heavens in which he will become a vessel for raw celestial energies, his physical form transmuted into a being of pure and terrible light, ascending as Orikan the Prime into a power capable of overmatching even a shard of the c'tan. Every calculation, every journey through time, every quiet manipulation across the long ages serves to bring that moment of transfiguration to pass, and woe betide any who would knock the stars from their appointed course.
