Nurglings

Gleeful, boil-born imps that swarm from the guts of Nurgle's greater daemons to gnaw and pester.

Nurglings are the smallest and most numerous children of the Plague God, tiny three-in-one daemons that caper on spindly legs, fat bellies wobbling and tongues lolling in idiot glee. Each is born as a boil made flesh, swelling within the rotting bowels of a Great Unclean One until it grows fat on filth and bursts free. The greater daemons dote upon these scabrous imps, dandling them on their knees and scratching behind their malformed ears, and the Nurglings in turn swarm to their father's defence with shrill, gleeful savagery whenever he is threatened.

In their multitudes they teem across the battlefield as a living tide of pox and mischief, nesting in the burst sores and split bellies of larger daemons and pouring forth to overwhelm the foe. Singly a Nurgling is little threat, a squirming handful of teeth and disease, but a swarm can drag a warrior down by sheer weight of squealing bodies, biting, clawing and smearing contagion into every wound. They delight equally in murder and in petty cruelty, gnawing bootstraps, fouling supplies and stealing trinkets, embodying the grotesque good cheer of Grandfather Nurgle in miniature.
