Plaguebearers are the sombre bureaucrats of decay, said to be formed from the souls of mortals who perished from Nurgle's diseases. Each bears a single great eye, a mark of the tallyman's endless task, for they are compelled to count every new plague loosed upon the galaxy, forever falling behind as their master's generosity outpaces their arithmetic. This gives them an air of weary melancholy quite unlike the cheerfulness of their smaller kin.
In battle their value is endurance. Plaguebearers feel little pain and shrug off wounds that would drop any mortal, their rotting bulk absorbing punishment as their numbers press relentlessly forward. Their rusted blades carry the diseases of their patron, and a wound that does not kill outright may fester into something far worse. They do not charge or manoeuvre with any speed; they simply advance, patient and inexorable, until the foe is buried beneath a tide of contagion. Against such an enemy, attrition is a losing strategy, for the Plaguebearers only ever seem to multiply.
