Freeguild Steelhelms

The rank-and-file of the Dawnbringer Crusades — ordinary mortals in blessed steel, holding the line with halberd, maul, and unkillable stubbornness.

Steelhelms are the Dawnbringer Crusades made flesh: rank upon rank of ordinary mortals in munition-forge half-plate, carrying halberds, mauls, and broadblades from the crusade arsenals. They are drilled to hold ground rather than take it gloriously — to lock ranks around the wagons, plant their banners, and make the enemy pay in blood for every pace of the road. Prayer-scrolls flutter from their armour, penned by loved ones or bought at wayside shrines, because a Steelhelm's faith is armour as surely as steel.

Every Steelhelm signed the crusade rolls for a reason: a plot of land in a city not yet built, a debt forgiven, a family lost to the dark and owed an answer. They know precisely what the Stormcast Eternals are spared and they are not — there is no reforging for a Steelhelm, no second life waiting in Azyr. That they march anyway is either the maddest or the bravest thing in the Mortal Realms, and the free cities were built on the difference not mattering.
