The Mortal Realms are the eight immense planes of existence where Age of Sigmar takes place. When the world of the old legends was destroyed, its magic drifted through the void for an age until each of the eight winds of sorcery condensed into a realm of its own. Aqshy burns with the magic of fire, Ghyran overflows with life, Ghur seethes with bestial savagery, Chamon gleams with metal, Shyish draws everything toward death, Hysh blazes with light, Ulgu drowns in shadow, and Azyr crackles with the energies of the storm-filled heavens.
Each realm is not a planet but a landscape so vast it verges on the infinite, and its ruling magic grows stronger toward its edges, where geography dissolves into raw sorcery. Civilisations rise on floating islands, endless plains, and continents of strange matter, while travel between the realms depends almost entirely on realmgates, the ancient portals that stitch the planes together.
The realms' shared history falls into three great eras: the Age of Myth, when gods and mortals built wonders together; the Age of Chaos, when the Dark Gods brought almost everything to ruin; and the current Age of Sigmar, in which the God-King's storm-forged armies fight to reclaim what was lost.
