Cavaliers are the shock arm of the Freeguilds: full-plate riders on barded warhorses, trained to arrive together, strike together, and turn a battle in the space of a single charge. On the march they range around the crusade columns as escorts and lance-tipped deterrence; in battle they wait with grinding patience for the one moment when a wedge of steel and horseflesh will matter most, then spend themselves on it utterly.
Many Cavaliers are scions of free city houses, riding ancestral warhorses worth more than the streets they grew up on; as many more are commoners who won their spurs on crusade, where nobility is measured in ground held. Whatever their birth, they share the cavalier's creed — that a charge is a promise made at the gallop, and a Freeguild promise is kept.
