Order of the Sacred Rose

The most disciplined and composed of the great Orders, Sisters who meet the horrors of war with serene, prayerful calm and refuse ever to break.

Contents

Where other Orders channel their faith into fury, the Sacred Rose refines it into serenity, producing Sisters whose composure amid the maelstrom of war can seem almost inhuman. They do not scream oaths of vengeance as they advance; they intone measured prayers of fortitude, and their discipline holds where the resolve of others shatters. This calm is not coldness but mastery, a faith so deeply settled that no horror the galaxy can conjure is able to disturb it.

The Order honours Saint Arabella, called the Liberator, a companion of Alicia Dominica remembered above all for her even temper and her unshakeable poise in the face of despair. The Ecclesiarch Deacis VI is credited with formally establishing the Order in her name during the thirty-eighth millennium, and its convents have cultivated Arabella's temperament ever since, drilling their novices in emotional restraint as rigorously as in marksmanship. A Sister of the Sacred Rose is taught that panic is a doorway through which the warp creeps, and that a tranquil soul is a fortress no daemon can breach.

This reputation for level-headed reliability has made the Sacred Rose one of the most trusted Orders in the Imperium's darkest hours. Its disciplined formations are called upon precisely when a battle teeters on the edge of rout, for the sight of these Sisters advancing in perfect, prayerful order has steadied many a collapsing Imperial line. They win not through reckless zeal but through an unyielding refusal to break, holding fast until the enemy's frenzy has spent itself against their faith.
