The Cauldron of Blood is the most sacred relic of the cult of Khaine, a great bronze basin brimming with the blood of countless sacrifices, borne to war upon a groaning platform amid the Witch Elves' ranks. Attended by a Death Hag and her handmaidens, the cauldron is at once altar, standard and font of terrible power, and the blessings of the Lord of Murder flow from it across the surrounding host. Warriors who fight in its shadow are seized by a murderous, pain-numbing ecstasy, striking harder and heedless of wounds that would fell them, while the blood within seethes and bubbles as though eager for more. Before battle the Witch Elves anoint themselves from its depths, and in the killing they return their offerings to it a hundredfold. Around the Cauldron of Blood the fighting grows most frenzied and most cruel, for it is there that Khaine himself is said to look upon his children, and demand that they earn his favour in slaughter.
