Naggarond, the city that shares its name with the whole cold continent, is the capital of the druchii and the personal fortress of the Witch King. It is a place of black towers and colder iron, raised in the shadow of the Iceclaw Mountains, its spires built to overawe even the proud nobles of Naggaroth with the sheer weight of Malekith's authority. At its centre broods the Black Tower, a fastness of dark enchantment where the Witch King holds his court and plots the downfall of Ulthuan across the long centuries of his deathless reign.
From Naggarond the whole apparatus of the druchii war-machine is directed, and here dwell the most feared soldiers of the race: the Black Guard, the Witch King's own household regiment, whose grim discipline is a byword throughout the six cities. To rise in Naggarond is to stand nearest the throne and nearest the executioner alike, for Malekith suffers no rival and forgives no failure. It is the iron heart of a cruel kingdom, and the place from which the shadow of the Witch King reaches out to touch every corner of the world.
