The Kharibdyss is a nightmare hauled up from the lightless deeps of the world, a monstrous beast that the beastmasters of Karond Kar chain and drive to war. From its hulking body writhe many long necks, each ending in a slavering, fang-lined maw, and a nest of barbed tails lashes behind it, snatching warriors from the ground to be dragged into its hungering jaws. So dreadful is the creature's baying that the very sound unmans those who hear it, freezing brave warriors in place as the horror falls upon them. Half-blind and driven half-mad by its captivity, the Kharibdyss is goaded into battle by cruel handlers who ride upon its back, prodding it toward the enemy and hauling on its chains to keep its rage from turning inward. Where it wades into a formation it leaves carnage, plucking up victims two and three at a time, a devourer from the abyss unleashed upon the surface world.
