Naggaroth

Naggaroth, the Land of Chill, is the cold and cruel realm of the dark elves in the far north-west of the world — a continent of black mountains, frozen forests, and storm-lashed coasts, wrapped for much of the year in ice and darkness. It was to this bleak land that Malekith and his mother Morathi fled after their defeat in the great civil war that sundered the elven race, and here they built a kingdom to rival the one they had lost.

At its heart stands Naggarond, the Tower of Cold, greatest of the six fortress-cities from which the Witch King rules his people. The druchii are elves twisted by exile and hatred into a nation of tyrants, slavers, and murderers, who worship the bloody-handed god Khaine and raid across the world for the captives their cruel economy demands. Their black arks — floating fortress-ships the size of cities — descend upon distant coasts to carry off slaves by the thousand.

Naggaroth is the dark mirror of Ulthuan, the island paradise of the high elves the druchii still consider their stolen birthright. Between the two realms burns an undying feud, older than any human kingdom, that erupts again and again in war across the seas. The land itself breeds hardness: only the strong and the ruthless survive its winters, and the dark elves have made of their exile a weapon, forging in that frozen dark a people as merciless as the country that shaped them.
