Before the storm, Vandus was Vendell Blackfist, a herdsman-chieftain who defied the hordes of Chaos with a broken people at his back and lost everything but his defiance. Sigmar took that defiance and made it the cornerstone of the Stormcast Eternals: Vandus Hammerhand, first forged, first to charge through the realmgates when the Age of Sigmar began.
Astride his dracoth Calanax with the tempest-blessed hammer Heldensen in hand, Vandus is less a general than a standard given flesh — where he strikes, the Stormhosts believe, and belief wins battles. But firstness cuts both ways: no Stormcast has been reforged more, and none feels the slow tax of the Anvil more keenly. Vandus fights on knowing that every resurrection buys victory with another piece of the herdsman he used to be.
