The Hammers of Sigmar were the first host struck from the Anvil of Apotheosis, and into them the God-King poured everything he wished his warriors to become. Gold-plated and azure-cloaked, they are the storm as the free peoples imagine it — the host of the ballads, the emblem daubed on the walls of reclaimed cities. When a victory must be seen to be believed, it is the Hammers who are sent, for their coming is itself a promise that the long night has an end.
Such fame is also a chain. A host that embodies hope cannot be permitted to falter, and so the Hammers spend themselves on the wars that matter most, holding impossible lines and paying the slow tax of the Reforging more often than any other host. Their captains understand that they fight two battles at once — the enemy before them and the legend behind them — and that to fail the second would wound the realms more deeply than any single defeat.
Among the Stormcast Eternals the Hammers are both exemplar and measuring-rod, the standard every other brotherhood drills to match and quietly resents. They know it, and bear it with the weary grace of those chosen to be perfect and never permitted to stop.
Stormcast Eternals
Order of battle
The Hammers of Sigmar field the units of the Stormcast Eternals — a detachment from the roster:
Kindred formations
Other Stormcast Eternals formations
Anvils of the HeldenhammerGrim, black-armoured Stormcast drawn from souls of an older, darker age. The Anvils fight with funereal patience and a closeness to death that unsettles even their allies, for many of them were dead long before Sigmar's storm found them.
Celestial VindicatorsForged from souls who died with vengeance unfinished, the turquoise-clad Celestial Vindicators are the most ferocious of the Stormhosts. They fight with a fury barely contained by discipline, hunting the servants of Chaos with the hunger of those who lost everything to them.
Hallowed KnightsThe faithful given form — every Hallowed Knight was a mortal who called on Sigmar's name with their dying breath. Silver-armoured and serene, they are the Stormhost most beloved by the common folk, and the most determined to remember the humanity they were forged from.
