Small, swift and endlessly agile, the TX4 Piranha is the lightest of the T'au grav-tanks and the vanguard of any armoured push. First recorded in a civilian role upon Dal'yth, ferrying dignitaries in comfort, the design was swiftly adapted to war during the Second Sphere Expansion, and it has skirmished at the forefront of the Fire Caste's battles ever since. On the field a Piranha seems to be in a dozen places at once, darting across the enemy's front to harry, distract and mislead.
Crewed by a pilot and a gunner, the Piranha specialises in the hit-and-run strikes that lie at the heart of T'au doctrine. It flanks entrenched positions, screens the advance of heavier skimmers such as the Hammerhead and Devilfish, and races into the gaps in an enemy formation to loose a sudden burst of fire before wheeling away. Its main mount is typically a burst cannon or a fusion blaster, the latter turning the nimble craft into a lethal tank-hunter.
Completing the Piranha is its pair of detachable gun drones, which can peel away from the hull to fight independently, screening the skimmer or pressing an attack of their own. This union of speed, firepower and drone support makes the Piranha a constant torment to the Empire's enemies, a needle-swift raider that bleeds a foe with a hundred cuts before the killing blow at last falls.
