To bear the rank of Commander is to stand at the summit of the Fire Caste's long and demanding path of war. No T'au is granted the title for prowess alone; it is earned across decades of tireless service, of trials survived and battles won, until a veteran is judged worthy to direct whole Hunter Cadres in the name of the Greater Good. Such warriors are issued battlesuits found nowhere else in the Empire's ranks.
The XV85 Enforcer is a larger, sleeker evolution of the Crisis Battlesuit, its more powerful reactor granting superior protection and freer movement while carrying a heavier burden of weapons and support systems. Ion blasters, flamers, frag projectors and elaborate electronic countermeasures may all be arrayed upon its frame, making the Enforcer a walking arsenal that anchors a T'au line. The XV86 Coldstar, by contrast, is built for speed. Sheathed in aerodynamic fins and driven by a specialised thruster array, it streaks across the battlefield faster than enemy targeting can follow, harrying the foe with its burst cannon while relaying a flood of battlefield telemetry to its cadre.
Whichever suit they pilot, Commanders fight from the front, their tactical genius and personal courage lifting every warrior around them. Where a Commander walks, the finest traditions of T'au generalship walk with them, and the enemies of the Empire learn to dread the disciplined fury such a leader brings to bear.
