The TY7 Devilfish is the workhorse of the T'au ground forces, a graceful anti-gravitic skimmer that has ferried the Fire Caste to war for centuries. Its antigrav drives generate cushions of air upon which the armoured hull rides, while paired multi-directional thrusters propel it forward; by angling those thrusters downward the pilot can vault the wreckage and obstacles that clutter any battlefield. Within its pressurised compartment ride up to a dozen Fire Warriors or Pathfinders, borne in relative safety with all their arms and equipment.
The Devilfish exists to make T'au battle doctrine possible. It rushes Fire Warrior teams to freshly chosen firing positions as part of sweeping strategic manoeuvres, races through gaps torn in the enemy line, and extracts imperilled Pathfinders before the foe can close and overwhelm them. Speed and repositioning are the essence of the T'au way of war, and the Devilfish is the vehicle that grants a cadre its mobility.
Nor is the transport toothless once its passengers have disembarked. A burst cannon sits in a chin turret under the pilot's control, and a pair of gun drones, or in their place a smart missile system, add further fire. Lending this weight of shots to the very warriors it has just delivered, the Devilfish remains upon the field as a mobile strongpoint, proof of the Earth Caste's gift for wedding utility to elegance.
