The Firesight Marksman is a master of the patient art that underpins every T'au Empire victory: seeing the enemy before the enemy sees you. Detached from the Pathfinder teams that scout ahead of the cadre, this lone specialist takes up a concealed vantage and directs the battle through the pitiless light of the markerlight.
Working in concert with a pair of marker drones, the Marksman bathes chosen targets in coded illumination, guiding the fire of the whole cadre with an accuracy no unaided gunner could achieve. An enemy commander singled out by a Firesight Marksman is as good as dead, for the markerlight upon his breast invites a storm of missiles, seeker warheads and pulse fire from foes he cannot even see.
It is a role that demands stillness, discipline and an almost inhuman calm, for the Marksman must lie unmoving for hours, unseen, until the perfect instant arrives. He rarely fires his own rifle in anger, and yet no single warrior does more to decide the battle, for through his eyes the entire cadre takes aim, and through his patience the Greater Good claims its foes.
