Skimming above the battlefield on gravitic drives rather than treads, the Hammerhead is the signature heavy tank of the T'au ground forces, its low, angular hull built around a single devastating railgun capable of shattering enemy armor with a single well-placed shot. Sa'cea Sept's shipyards produce Hammerheads in especially great numbers, and the sight of their characteristic silhouette gliding over open ground has come to signal, for many an enemy commander, that the battle's heavy metal has finally arrived.
Beyond its main weapon, the Hammerhead's crew relies on the vehicle's sensor suite to identify and prioritize the most dangerous targets on a crowded battlefield, feeding targeting data back to allied Fire Warrior and battlesuit units. This role as both a hammer blow and a battlefield eye makes the gunship indispensable to any major T'au offensive, a vehicle equally capable of anchoring a defensive line or spearheading an armored advance.
