The Adsecularis Tech-thralls are the lowest servants of the Mechanicum's armies, part-augmented human conscripts and menials pressed into war and driven forward as expendable fodder. Their minds are dulled by cortical control and their bodies fitted with crude weapons and armour, and they are spent without a second thought by the adepts who command them.
What the tech-thralls lack in skill they make up for in sheer, grinding numbers, advancing in vast shuffling columns to overwhelm a position or soak up the fire that would otherwise fall upon more valuable constructs. In the terrible sieges of the Heresy they died in their tens of thousands, faceless and forgotten, the human cost of a forge-world's war reduced to a resource to be expended. That so many were fed into the grinder without protest is itself a quiet horror of the Cult Mechanicus at war.
