The Macrocarid Explorator is a vast tracked war-crawler of the Mechanicum, originally built for the long expeditions that scoured dead worlds for lost technology and now pressed into service as a mobile fortress of guns. Its enormous hull can be configured with a bewildering array of weaponry and arcane devices, and it advances at the head of a battle-maniple as an anchor of firepower few enemies can match.
Beyond its armament, the Macrocarid retains the reclamation systems of its exploratory heritage, able to salvage and process the wreckage and remains left in its wake. In the Heresy, forge-hosts fielded these ancient machines where overwhelming, sustained firepower was needed, a rolling testament to the Mechanicum's boundless capacity for building engines of war on a scale that dwarfs the imaginings of lesser powers.
