The Krios Battle Tank was the principal armoured war-engine of the Mechanicum's own forge-hosts, a grav-effect chassis that skimmed above the battlefield with the smooth indifference of Martian craft. Where the Legions relied on tracked Predators and Land Raiders, the priesthood fielded the Krios, its anti-grav drive carrying it over terrain that would mire a conventional tank and its hull proof against all but the heaviest fire. Armed most often with a lightning-cannon that spat arcing death or the searing beam of a pulsar-fusil, it could gut infantry and armour with equal ease. Guided by cortex-assisted targeting and crewed by adepts who saw the machine as an extension of their own augmented senses, the Krios fought with a precision and a patience beyond flesh. It formed the armoured fist of a taghmata advance, and in the civil war that engulfed Mars, Krios squadrons dueled one another across the ruined forge-sprawls of the Red Planet.
