The Ordo Reductor

The Horus Heresy

The siege-cult of the Mechanicum, the Ordo Reductor made an art of unmaking, breaking fortresses and worlds with demolition-engines and the grim mathematics of destruction.

Contents

The Ordo Reductor was the destroying arm of the Mechanicum, a sub-cult devoted wholly to the art of unmaking. Where the wider priesthood pursued knowledge and creation, the Reductor turned that same rigour toward demolition, studying the precise stresses that would collapse a bastion, the exact yield that would crack a hull, the surest way to reduce any strongpoint to slag and dust. Its magi were siege-engineers of terrible genius, and its ranks bristled with demolition-automata, breaching charges, and heavy ordnance built to level walls the Titans themselves might struggle to breach.

In the campaigns of the Great Crusade the Ordo Reductor was called upon whenever a fortress had to fall, its patient, methodical destruction a science as much as a war. When the Heresy split the priesthood, the Reductor's grim skills were coveted by both sides, for a war of sieges and shattered worlds had need of those who understood destruction as a discipline. Its adepts brought the same cold calculation to the ruin of the Imperium that they had once brought to its raising, and where the Reductor set its engines, no wall stood for long.
