The Cult Mechanicus is the ancient techno-religion of Mars and the spiritual foundation of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Its adherents worship the Machine God, whom they name the Omnissiah, and hold that all knowledge is sacred, that the flesh is weak, and that the union of man and machine is the highest state to which a being may aspire.
The priesthood of the Cult believes that within every device dwells a machine spirit, a fragment of divine essence that must be appeased through ritual, incense, and sacred prayer. To repair a cogitator or awaken an engine is an act of worship; to innovate recklessly is blasphemy against the ancient templates handed down from the Dark Age of Technology.
Bound to the Imperium by the ancient Treaty of Mars, the Cult Mechanicus supplies the weapons, armour, and starships without which the Emperor's domain could not endure. Yet its true loyalties lie always with the Machine God and the endless Quest for Knowledge, a devotion that predates the Imperium itself.
