The Castellax Battle-automata was among the most common war-robots of the Legio Cybernetica, a hulking engine of destruction driven not by a living crew but by a cortex-engine — a caged, half-sentient machine-mind bound to obey its Cybernetica magi. It carried a fearsome array of weapons, from bolt cannon and mauler-pattern guns to power blades for the close press, and its heavy armour shrugged off fire that would gut a tank. What made the Castellax terrible was its utter absence of fear: it advanced at an even, grinding pace whatever the storm before it, never breaking, never faltering, until its targets were dead or it was destroyed. Marshalled in cohorts under the watchful protocols of their controlling magi, Castellax automata formed the merciless heart of many a Mechanicum battle-line. In the corrupted forge-hosts of the Dark Mechanicum, such engines were bound with far darker things than logic, and howled with the voices of the warp as they killed.
