The Knight Warden is a Questoris-class war-suit configured for the brutal business of storming fortifications and fighting amid the crushing confines of the urban battlefield. Where lesser engines might falter beneath a wall of fire, the Warden strides on undaunted, and its Nobles are frequently entrusted to spearhead assaults upon barricades, bunkers and every manner of enemy strongpoint.
Its signature weapon is the Avenger Gatling Cannon, a colossal rotary weapon whose whirling barrels drown the foe beneath an unrelenting storm of heavy shells. Slaved to the cannon is a coaxial Heavy Flamer, ready to purge any enemy who cowers in cover, while the Warden's opposite arm bears either a Reaper Chainsword or a Thunderstrike Gauntlet, armament equal to tearing apart a battle tank, a monstrous xenos beast or an armoured redoubt with a single blow. With its Ion Shield angled to the fore, the Warden can close the distance at frightening speed, its great strides carrying it over tank-traps and through the choked arteries of a hive city, the tangled machinery of a manufactorum or the twisted boughs of an alien forest.
By the traditions of many households, the mantle of the Warden is one taken up in the twilight of a Noble's career. When at last a Knight grows too aged for the reckless charges of youth, it is told, they pass their battle armour to a chosen heir and don the panoply of a Warden, remaining behind to guard the household's holdings and to temper the ardour of younger scions with the counsel of long and hard-won experience.
