Where the Lancer is the weapon of the impetuous, the Cerastus Knight-Castigator is the recourse of the patient. It is favoured above all by those households that must face the tide of lesser foes, the swarming multitudes that threaten to drag down even a mighty Knight through sheer weight of numbers. Against such enemies the Castigator is without peer, and its reputation is matched only by the peculiar stoicism of its machine spirit, an anima slow to wake and slower still to anger, yet impossible to quell once its wrath is finally roused.
The war-suit's primary armament is the Castigator-Pattern Bolt Cannon, a titanic weapon that vomits a storm of mass-reactive shells capable of scouring an entire infantry formation from existence in moments and of carving apart light vehicles with contemptuous ease. In the press of close battle the Castigator wields a Tempest Warblade, a blade fit to answer any foe that survives the guns. For all these virtues, it is not the young and glory-hungry who are granted the Castigator's mantle but a household's more venerable scions, warriors of proven temperament who can be trusted to hold the line, to husband their limited stock of ammunition against a long battle, and to lend their steadfast strength to the wilder charges of their kin.
