House Griffith

House Griffith is a proud and ancient loyalist house whose scions temper valour with cunning, favouring measured warfare over heedless aggression. Long allied with the Astra Militarum, Griffith's Knights are famed for their discipline on the battlefield and their willingness to fight as part of a wider host rather than seeking solitary glory. Their tacticians are studied and respected throughout the Imperium's war colleges.

House Griffith hails from a windswept agri-world where vast estates are worked by commoner serfs beneath the watchful gaze of the noble houses. Unlike the headlong Terryn, the scions of Griffith are schooled in the arts of coordinated warfare, taught to see the battlefield as a whole rather than as a stage for personal heroics. This does not make them cautious, for a Griffith Knight will charge as readily as any, but they choose their moment with care.

The house has forged an enduring bond with the regiments of the Imperial Guard, and Griffith Knights are frequently seen anchoring the lines of massed infantry, their towering forms lending courage to the mortal soldiers who fight in their shadow. Griffith's Sacristans are noted for their conservatism, preserving their machines with meticulous devotion and rarely committing more than duty demands to a single engagement.

Griffith holds to the Code Chivalric, but interprets it through a lens of collective duty. Honour, its lords teach, is best served by victory, and victory is best won through discipline. The house has weathered ten thousand years by remembering that even the mightiest god-machine can fall, and that pride poorly placed is the ruin of noble bloodlines.
