A Deathwatch Veteran is no ordinary Space Marine. Every warrior who dons the black armour has already proven himself across decades of war within his own Chapter, and only the most accomplished are chosen to serve the Long Watch. Upon their secondment, these veterans are retrained as alien-hunters, learning to identify the strengths and frailties of a hundred xenos species.
In battle, a squad of Deathwatch Veterans is a study in adaptability. One brother may carry a weapon suited to close slaughter, another a ranged armament for cracking armour, and a third specialised munitions for burning through alien flesh. This diversity lets a single squad reconfigure itself for any threat, from swarming tyranids to entrenched necrons. Drawn from disparate Chapters yet fighting as one, they embody the Deathwatch ideal: that the right warrior with the right weapon, in the right place, can turn back a tide that would drown an army.
