Where other Watch Fortresses hunt living foes, Nostrada watches the dead — or rather, the not-quite-dead legions of the necrons slumbering in the tombs beneath its assigned worlds. The fortress sits amid a region riddled with silent necropolises, any of which might disgorge phalanxes of living metal warriors without warning. For its garrison, the greatest enemy is time, for a dynasty may sleep for aeons and then wake in the span of a single night.
The brothers of Nostrada have made a grim art of necron warfare. They study the reawakening patterns of the tombs and stand ready to strike the moment a threat rouses, deploying munitions engineered to shred the self-repairing bodies of their foes. Their kill teams have learned to move fast and hit the command nodes of a necron force, denying the aliens the coordination that makes them so lethal. The warriors of Nostrada know they cannot destroy a tomb world outright, but they can bleed each awakening dynasty and keep the horror contained. It is a thankless, unending duty, and they perform it with unbending resolve.
Deathwatch
Order of battle
The Watch Fortress Nostrada field the units of the Deathwatch — a detachment from the roster:
Kindred formations
Other Deathwatch formations
Fort PykmanAn isolated Deathwatch watch fortress in the Ghoul Stars, holding the line against emergent Barghesi and waking Necron dynasties in the Imperium Nihilus.
Tyrannic War SpecialistsA doctrine as much as a formation, the Tyrannic War Specialists are Deathwatch warriors who have dedicated their Long Watch to the destruction of the tyranids. Steeped in the anatomy and instinct of the Great Devourer, they field munitions and tactics honed across countless battles against the endless swarm.
Watch Fortress EriochAnchored deep within the tyranid-haunted reaches of the eastern frontier, Watch Fortress Erioch is among the most storied of Deathwatch strongholds. Its garrison has spent generations charting the migrations of hive fleets and answering the alien incursions that plague the surrounding sectors, becoming masters of the surgical strike against overwhelming numbers.
Watch Fortress Talasa PrimeThe headquarters and foremost training world of the Deathwatch, a fortress-planet within Ultramar where kill-teams are forged against the xenos.
Xenos Inquisitorial CadresThe most secretive arm of the Deathwatch, the Xenos Inquisitorial Cadres serve directly at the side of the Ordo Xenos. These hand-picked kill teams undertake the Inquisition's most sensitive alien-hunting missions, operating far beyond the sight of the wider Imperium and answering to inquisitorial masters alone.
