A Deathwatch Chaplain carries the spiritual fire of his parent Chapter into the most singular of brotherhoods, where his duty is to bind warriors of a dozen different lineages into one unbreakable whole. This is no easy calling, for the battle-brothers seconded to the Deathwatch arrive steeped in the wildly divergent rites, rivalries and gene-forged tempers of their home Chapters, and it falls to the Chaplain to melt away such differences and forge in their place a shared and absolute hatred of the xenos. Through thunderous litanies and the sheer force of his conviction, he reminds each knight of the black shield that his old allegiances now matter less than the sacred oath they hold in common. In battle he is a figure of grim inspiration, wielding the crozius arcanum amid the thickest fighting, his rosarius flaring as he leads the charge against the alien. Where the enemy is most monstrous and the cause most desperate, the Chaplain's presence turns wavering courage to iron, so that the kill team fights on long after terror would have shattered a lesser band of warriors.
