The Death Riders of Krieg carry the grim discipline of their siege-bound world into the ancient art of mounted warfare, riding to battle on hardy, augmetically enhanced steeds bred and drilled in the underground stables of Krieg. Where the massed Korpsmen grind forward through the trenches, the Death Riders range ahead and to the flanks, scouting, screening and striking with sudden, galloping violence.
Their signature weapon is the hunting lance, a shock-charged spear that discharges its full killing power into a target at the instant of impact before being cast aside for pistol and blade. A squadron at the charge is a terrifying sight, ranks of masked riders bursting from the murk to spear officers, overrun gun-teams and ride down fleeing infantry before wheeling away to reform.
Like all sons of Krieg they hold their own lives as nothing, pressing charges other cavalry would refuse and accepting fearful losses without complaint. They are the fast, cruel edge of an otherwise ponderous army, and to a foe who thought the trench lines static and safe, the thunder of their hooves is often the last warning before the lances strike home.
