Among a subspecies renowned for brute strength and childlike simplicity, Nork Deddog stands apart as a legend in his own lifetime. By the standards of his kind he is a prodigy: he can write the first letter of his name, count as high as four, and even speak in short sentences, achievements all but unheard of among Ogryns. This precocious mind is the product of artificial enhancement, likely the same process that creates the Ogryn overseers known as Bone 'eads, after which he was trained within a special unit.
What truly defines Nork, however, is his loyalty, which is without equal even among his famously devoted race. His skills as a bodyguard have made him one of the most sought-after protectors in the Imperium, and over a long career he has served officer after officer, throwing his colossal frame between his charges and the guns of the enemy. Where an ordinary Ogryn can scarcely function without a Bone 'ead to direct it, Nork possesses an instinctive grasp of the Astra Militarum war machine and the ways of the men he guards, and Imperial commanders across a hundred war zones have vied for the honour of his protection.
His reputation is written in the lives he has saved. Nork has pulled more than a hundred officers from the jaws of death, most famously rescuing Colonel Greiss at Breakback Hill, and the sheer breadth of his heroics has won him a collection of medals remarkable for any soldier, let alone an abhuman.
He is as terrifying in attack as he is steadfast in defence. During one brutal engagement he grappled with the Ork Warboss Uglurk Gitsmasha and delivered a headbutt of such appalling force that the monstrous greenskin was hurled clean out of the dugout to his death in the sizzling acid of the Chabda River far below. In Nork Deddog the Imperium sees the perfect expression of what it prizes in his kind: uncomplicated courage, unbreakable devotion, and the strength to make good on both.
