The Catachan Jungle Fighters hail from a world so lethal that merely surviving to adulthood marks a man as an elite killer. Catachan teems with venomous horrors, carnivorous flora and predators that can swallow a squad whole, and the humans who scratch out a living there grow lean, corded with muscle and preternaturally alert, schooled in ambush from the moment they can walk.
Shipped off-world into the Astra Militarum, they carry that instinct into every warzone, disdaining the parade-ground drill of other regiments in favour of infiltration and the sudden, savage knife-fight. Each fighter bears the famous Catachan fang, a heavy blade as much tool as weapon, and they are without peer in jungle, swamp and shattered ruin where visibility is short and killing is close.
They travel light, live off hostile land that would starve other soldiers, and wear a superior foe down through hit-and-run raids and cruel booby-traps until the enemy is bled white. Their officers lead from the front by right of being the hardest killers present. Discipline runs loose but loyalty absolute, and few regiments are so gleefully at home amid slaughter.
